What is ClaimLand? A GPS game in your browser, no download

ClaimLand is a free GPS game that runs in your browser. The entire land surface of the planet is divided into a grid of plots roughly 25 by 30 metres each — there are none in the open sea. You can only claim land you are physically standing on — the map is your real neighbourhood, and land only becomes yours if you walk there.

There is nothing to install and no app store involved: open the page, allow location access, play. No download, no real money, no blockchain — the gold is play money only, and you do not need an account to try it.

How it works, in three steps

1. Visit

Every plot has to be visited once before you may buy it. Visiting costs 1 gold and only works within range of where you actually are. Visited plots turn yellow on the map.

2. Buy

An untouched plot costs 10 gold. Every purchase raises its price by another 10 gold — permanently, no matter who buys. You can take plots from other players at any time: the previous owner loses the land and receives nothing for it — only the price goes up, for whoever buys next. Popular spots become genuinely expensive over time.

Before each purchase a contract opens, which you sign by pressing and holding a stamp for a moment. After that the plot is yours and glows green.

3. Earn gold

Your plots pay out gold every minute, even while you stand still. The rate is tiered: your first ten plots earn half a gold each, and the rate then drops step by step to 0.001 gold for everything beyond ten thousand. From a hundred thousand plots on it flattens by another factor of ten: up there, ten thousand more plots add one gold between them. Owning a lot still pays — each new plot just adds less than the one before. And yes, there is a wealth tax: from a million gold in your account, passive income only counts at one fifth.

You keep earning while offline, but much more slowly: time away counts at only 10 per cent, and for at most six hours. The same goes for a browser tab left open: after 15 minutes without a visit or a purchase you count as away too. ClaimLand rewards playing along without punishing you for putting the phone down.

Levels and range

How far you can reach from your own position depends on your level. You never level up automatically: you need the progress and the gold, and you unlock each level deliberately.

It continues from there up to level 30. Visits keep counting all the way up: the bar rises from 380 to 69,000 plots visited, and the gold cost from 1,100 to 600,000. Range keeps growing in small steps, ending at 120 plots: on every second level up to level 12, on every third after that. The levels in between are a rank badge and an expensive purchase, not an advantage in play — even at level 29 you still walk.

If you lose land again you keep your level — there is no way back down.

Old settlements

About five per cent of the world's surface is settled from the very start. These plots belong to nobody, but they show up red and cost 20 gold instead of 10 the first time they are bought. They are scattered across the map in irregular patches, so that even an empty area does not look empty.

Playing against others

Three leaderboards track who owns the most plots, who has visited the most and who holds the most gold. A counter shows how many players are online right now, and a global chat lets you coordinate — or announce a takeover. If you want to show what is yours, you can decorate individual plots: from level 4 with your own name on the map, from level 10 also with a crest you design yourself — per plot, for gold or diamonds, at most twenty at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Does ClaimLand cost anything?

No. The game is free and there is nothing to purchase. Gold comes from playing, and only from playing.

Is ClaimLand an NFT or crypto game?

No. Plots are entries in our database, nothing more — there is no blockchain, no wallet and nothing that could be sold outside the game. Gold and diamonds are play money only.

Do I need an account?

Not to try it — you start as a guest straight away. Guests can own up to 10 plots. If you want more, create an account; everything you have achieved so far carries over.

What happens to my location?

Your location is used to check which plots are within range. No movement history is stored, and other players cannot see where you are — only which plots you own. The details are in the privacy policy.

Does it work on a computer?

Yes, but ClaimLand is built for phones: without accurate GPS your range stays vague, and walking around is hard at a desk. On Android you can add the page to your home screen, after which it behaves like an app.

Can I keep a plot forever?

No — every plot can be bought away, including yours. In exchange it gets more expensive with each change of owner, so an established territory does defend itself.

I own land that shows up in the game. Can I change that?

Yes. The grid is laid over the earth's surface by calculation alone and knows nothing about real property boundaries. If you own a piece of land and do not want your area to appear in the game, just send us an informal message — the address is in the legal notice. We will remove it.
